Qatar Chapter of Bihar Foundation to come up soon

Patna,(BiharTimes): The chief executive officer of the Bihar Foundation, Vivek Singh, who is also the culture secretary of the state, has given in principle consent to open Doha Chapter of the Foundation to a five-member visiting delegation of Non-Resident Biharis (NRBs) living in UAE. Only last month the deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, inaugurated the Mumbai Chapter of the Foundation.

The delegation was led by Shakeel Ahmed Kakavi, the President of the Indian Association for Bihar and Jharkhand (IABJ) who met Singh and Public Relation Manager of the Foundation, Satyajit Narayan Singh, on the need for opening of Doha Chapter.

Making a strong plea Kakavi said that IABJ has been serving the people of Bihar and Jharkhand for the last several years. Belal Khan, a delegation member working with Qatar Petroleum, shared some of the issues resolved by the IABJ. He said that non-payment of less than standard wage to migrant Bihari labourers, improper visa etc were among the frequent problems faced by the NRBs working in Doha.

Kakawi told mediapersons that though they live in foreign land they always long for Bihar. He runs a school in his native Kako block of Jehanabad district under the aegis of Kaynat Foundation.

Vivek Singh said it has been agreed that Bihar Foundation would open its Chapter in Doha in association with the IABJ.

The Chapter would communicate in two ways. One what the government would do for the migrant Biharis and second what the NRBs can do for the developkent of Bihar. It was decided that the NRBs of Qatar would meet shortly and give shape to the Doha Chapter. A list of executive committee members would be sent to the parent body for approval.
Kakvi promised to mobilize other socal entrepreneurs for taking an active interest and contributing to the development of the state and also for promoting art, culture and image of Bihar in Qatar.

Kakavi and Belal Khan, along with others, will represent the Gulf delegation to the BiharTimes Global Conclave scheduled to be held on December 19-20 in Maurya Hotel in Patna.
