Her
husband Mahesh Rai along with three others was abducted
by a group of armed men in broad daylight on April 27
from a restaurant in Hajipur.
Ironically,
when the people present on the spot protested, the abductors
identified themselves as personnel of the Special Task
Force.
Hajipur
police reportedly informed Sunaina next morning that
her husband was under the custody of Patna police who
denied it.
Engaged
in business, Rai is the sole bread earner of his family.
According
to her relatives, Sunaina ran from pillar to post in
the last four months to search for her husband but without
success.
"She
even met the state chief minister, police chief and
sought help of the National Human Rights Commission,"
her relative said.
Sunaina
met the chief minister thrice in his people's court
but got only assurances rather than action on the ground.
What
has frightened her is the discovery of the body of a
man, who was abducted along with her husband, in Jehanabad.
Nitish
Kumar's government, which came to power in November
2005, had promised to turn Bihar into a crime-free state
in three months. But statistics reveal that over 1,110
people, including 171 children and 581 women, have been
kidnapped in the state since 1995.
