One engineering college will be opened each in Bihta (Patna) and Purnea while
efforts are on to reopen the three private degree technical colleges lying closed
for the last over one and a half decades. Announcing
this on Monday the science and technology minister, Anil Kumar, said that Sanghmitra
Institute of Pharmacy would soon come up at Neora near Danapur. Subhash Chandra
Bose Engineering College at Bihta and Vidya Vihar Engineering College in Purnea
will start functioning from the next academic session. It needs to be recalled
that the Indian Institute of Technology is also coming up near Bihta. The
minister expressed concern over the fact that as high as 42,000 students leave
Bihar every year to pursue technical education. He said that efforts are on to
revive the three private engineering colleges at Gaya, Darbhanga and Motihari
closed since late 1980s.
