Pappu Yadav Granted Bail in 1995 Forgery Case, Remains in Judicial Custody

Patna, Feb 10: An MP/MLA court in Patna on Tuesday granted bail to Independent Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav in a three-decade-old forgery case. However, he will continue to remain in custody in connection with another case registered recently.

Yadav was arrested on Friday evening from his residence by Patna Police after a court issued a warrant against him in a 1995 case registered under Section 467 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with forgery of valuable security and documents. He was taken into custody and produced before the court.

On Saturday morning, the MP was admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) after his health reportedly deteriorated following his arrest.

Advocate Shivnandan Bharti, appearing on behalf of Yadav, said the court had granted bail in the 1995 forgery case. “However, Pappu Yadav will remain in custody as another case was registered against him on the same day at the Buddha Colony police station for allegedly obstructing police work,” Bharti told reporters.

Police officials said further legal proceedings in the second case are underway.
