Jehanabad, Feb 15: A team of officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday visited the native village of the NEET aspirant whose death in Patna last month sparked widespread political debate.
The visit comes days after the CBI formally took over the investigation and registered an FIR in connection with the case. Officials interacted with the student’s family members and gathered preliminary information as part of the ongoing probe.
The student was found unconscious at a private hostel in the Chitragupt Nagar area of Patna on January 6. She was rushed to a private hospital, where she remained in a coma for five days before succumbing.
Her death had triggered a political storm in Bihar, with opposition parties demanding a high-level and impartial investigation. Following mounting pressure, the case was handed over to the CBI for a detailed inquiry.
Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
