Patna: United Kingdom Minister for AI and Online Safety Kanishka Narayan on Saturday said Bihar is “chasing the future of technology” as he returned to his home state after more than two decades.
Narayan, who serves as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the UK’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, arrived in Patna in the morning and met JD(U) national working president Sanjay Jha at his residence.
“Born here, I am back after more than 20 years. You can see a huge amount of progress unfolding here. Bihar, just like the UK, is chasing the future of technology,” Narayan told reporters.
The UK minister had travelled to India to attend the India AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi from February 16 to 21. He said he was pleased to return to Bihar and would also visit Muzaffarpur, where he spent his childhood.
Following the meeting, Sanjay Jha indicated that there could be potential collaboration between Bihar and the United Kingdom in the field of artificial intelligence.
“Being a son of this soil, he will try to garner some support on this front. Bihar has already come up with several policies on semiconductors, data and AI,” Jha said.
Claiming that Bihar has the “best policy” on artificial intelligence in the country, Jha said the State’s large youth population is making significant progress in the technology sector.
He highlighted the growing applications of AI in healthcare, agriculture and the services sector, asserting that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar would not lag behind other states in adopting and implementing advanced technologies.
The visit comes at a time when Bihar is positioning itself as an emerging player in digital innovation and artificial intelligence-driven governance.
