Bihar CM Felicitates U-19 World Cup Champion Vaibhav Suryavanshi with ₹50 Lakh

Patna, February 22, 2026: Nitish Kumar on Sunday honoured Under-19 World Cup-winning cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi at a ceremony held at 'Sankalp Sabhagar' in 1, Anne Marg.

The Chief Minister presented Suryavanshi with a cheque of Rs 50 lakh and an angavastram in recognition of his stellar performance in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026, where he played a key role in India's title-winning campaign.

Congratulating the young cricketer, Kumar said Suryavanshi's dedication and talent have made Bihar proud and positioned him as a promising face of Indian cricket. "His achievement is a matter of pride not only for Bihar but for the entire nation," the Chief Minister said, expressing hope that he would continue to achieve new milestones for the country.

Highlighting the state's commitment to sports development, Kumar said the Bihar government is building modern and world-class sports infrastructure and ensuring that athletes receive all necessary facilities and encouragement to excel. He assured continued government support for sportspersons striving for excellence.

Calling Suryavanshi an inspiration for the youth of the state, the Chief Minister said his success demonstrates how hard work and perseverance can lead to international recognition.

Other dignitaries present at the event, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, and Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh also congratulated Suryavanshi on his remarkable achievement and expressed their best wishes for his future endeavors in cricket.

Senior officials from the Chief Minister's Office, the Sports Department representatives of the Bihar Cricket Association and Suryavanshi's family members were also present at the felicitation ceremony.
